Sell Out??

Been in beauty school for 2 months now right? Ok, so far I have "checked out"(passed in class w/ hands on training, also known as practicals) on face waxing (brow, chin, lip, cheeks, neck), leg waxing, brow tinting, facials, back facials and water manicures and pedicures.

With that being said, we are allowed to practice at home. But i want to "practice" on friends and family. I do want to make a lil' money doing services but if state board finds out I'm doing this at home (and how would they find out?) without license, I wont get my license at all, but at the same time, i need all the practice I can get.

What U guys think?

Tons going on right now, listening to Gospel right now, lifting myself up :)

Me and a few friends have come together to choreograph for a show coming up, and its awesome so far!!!!! We have since then become a troupe! Something for fun! Its so awesome to have freinds! Last weekend we had a craft night. One of the girls is making me a tribal belt and i am loving it! Details are not quite finished yet but so far so awesome! I had her leave it with me cuz I used it in a fundraiser this past weekend, which was awesome by the way! We made good money for the organization :) Couldnt have done it without me friends!

I started school monday and I am loving it!!!! i am going for nails and esthetics! I am the only newbie in my program, so all the seniors love using me as their guinea pig to practice for state board! And i am not complaining!!!! And as a student, all services are FREE!!! Cant beat that!!!

Well off for now, need a nap before practice tonight :)

Phoenix heat!

A lot has happened since my visit here!!! We arrived Sat, June 18th, and went right to work cleaning grandma's old house. We finished that on wednesday. Thursday st. vincent de paul came to pick up all the "goodwill" stuff and friday the movers came and took all the stuff we are bringing back to cincy. We also had a cleaning lady come in and clean the house, and it sparkles!!!! Friay afternoon, the real estate man came and put the "for sale" sign up out front.

Sat we went to Jerome AZ. It was soooo lovely!! Its about an hour and 1/2 north of Phoenix. Its a tiny town on a mountain! While browsing the shops, i found`a bellydance store!!!! Such lovely costumes! I found one i really wanted, but cant afford it, so i took a pic of it, i will post all pics when i return from Phoenix. We then went to a friend's cabin in Flagstaff. It was just the thing we needed! Perfect 75 degrees, wind blowing through the pine trees, the forest smell....
Sunday we went to the grand canyon. My dumb butt forgot my camera that day!!!!! Grrr!!!!
Monday we came back to Phoenix, and could see the "Cave Creek Complex" wildfire just west of the interstate. it has burned over 125,000 acres in 8 days now and is only 25% contained.....

Monday the house sold!!! So quick!!! You can see the smoke from the fire northwest of Phoenix.

Today, i met up with an old friend and went mall hopping. While out, another wildfire broke out west of Phoenix, the smoke is now intering city limits. Though it isnt on the ground, it is drifting towards the valley. There are 5 wildfires burning right no in Arizona, all started by lighting strikes. It is very dry out here, only 6% humidity right now, and a lot of dry landscape!!!!

I will write more when i have time, but arms are tired, im on a laptop.

I'm a Big Girl Now!

..Literally....

I have gained 20 lbs sinceDecember. i havent been working, cant find a decent job, and havent been excersizing like im supposed to. But lately I have been busier than usual. I dont feel like ive gotten bigger, and i dont see it, but its what the scale is screaming at me.

Prom was 3 weeks ago, and it was a blast! I performed a tribal number, and a caberet number. I made good mulah! Visit my photo's page to see pics.

This week has been busy. I've been cleaning house because we will have out of town company this weekend. My grandmother's memorial service is Saturday so a cousin is flying in from Baltimore to be present.

Tonight, a documentary, "American Bellydancer" was supposed to be playing at the Esquire in Clifton. It didnt happen. So we went to Skyline instead. Then to Graeter's. Then to her house to glimps at some of her costumes. She let me borrow her Tribal Fusion Belly Dance DVD by Rachel Brice. So this will whip me into shape!

I'm off to bed, hopefully i will write in the near future! ¡Felis Cinco de Mayo!

First and foremost, I would like to say to my Grandmother, I loved you and will always miss you, if it werent for a lot of your support, I would not be where I am today. My grandma past away Thursday, March 31th, 2005 @ 8:03 Phoenix timeat 78 yrs of age. Please keep her in your prayers!!!

I did go to Yadda tonight, it was great. I will be posting the pics as soon as they are loaded to my pc, which is what Im doing now.

Home!!!

Ahh, its good to be back on land! I'm sore, and tired. Around 7 tonight, I returned home from Phoenix, Arizona. 2 weeks ago, my grandmother went back into the hospital for the second time in 2 weeks. So she asked that we fly out there to see her. So we did. Last minute of course. She isnt doing well. In fact she will probably go any day now. Her last wish was to see me and my brother, and now she has. She has emphezema, among other things. That was the biggest reason we flew out.

- Monday, March 21st, 2005
* My mother flew into Phoenix Sunday Morning. Me and my brother flew out today. Our plane took off from Cincinnati @ 7:02am. We landed in Detroit about 8:20. We were only in the air 37 minutes so i am confused on how it took over an hour to get there if we were only in the air for 37 minutes.... Anyway, we grabbed some McDonald's then boarded our next flight from Detroit to Phoenix @ 9:45am. We arrived in Phoenix @ 11:44am(1:44pm Cincinnati time). After landing, we settled @ a friend of my mom's house. We then visited grandma in the hospital and had cupcakes and ice cream to celebrate my belated birthday. We visited for about 2 hours.
- Tuesday, March 22nd, 2005
* Another beautiful day, mid 70's and suny. We went back to the hospital and visited my grandmother. Around 4 or so, me and my brother met up with an old friend of mine I havent seen in 8 years! We reminiced, went to Arrowhead Mall, then to Metro Center. She then dropped us off around 9pm. Leave it to me to forget to get a picture with her!

* Back to the hospital. Grandma is doing a little better. Breathing is still short though her voice has improved a little bit. After that we went back to our old neighborhood and saw some old neighbors. We chatted for a bit. Then we went to Grandma's house to get some things. She will never get will enough to move back in. She has seen the las of this house... Around 8pm we watched the Incredibles forthe first time. I liked it, but not the best I've ever seen.

* Today is Josh's 21st Birthday, although I am not home to tell him happy birthday, so I will text it to him. Today Grandma was moved to Glencroft Center. This will be the last major move she makes.

* Good Friday. Grandma was very tired, so we didnt stay long. We went to Good Friday services at the old church we used to go to. It hasnt changed since we left.

* We went to Glencroft twice today. This is the last day we will see our grandmother, possibly forever. She got to see me and my brother one last time, she is happy. Its hard to believe we will never see her again. We packed our things and went to bed.

* We got up bright and early. Our flight to Detroit left arround 10:30am(12:30pm Cincy time). Landed in Detroit around 4:20pm. Our flight left at 5:05pm and landed in Cincinnati at 6:40pm. What a week. Glad to be back on the ground!!!

Hello again!

A lot has gone on since my last posting... Apparently Bed Bath & Beyond didnt need any new employees because i have yet to hear from them, and the 2 times I did call, they brushed me off, so, I'm just going to keep looking.

Recently, my grandmother in Arizona has been in and out of the hospital. So today she called my mother and wants to see us. So we are flyin out Monday, March 21, the day after my birthday. But of course I havent been there in 8 or 9 years so I will be visiting other friends and visiting places i havent been to since I left. From what I hear its changed a lot since I havent been there. I wont have any connections to the internet while Im there so, I wont be able to reply to any email until I get back in town.

Sunday is my 21th birthday! Happy Birthday to me! I will go to my youth group, then we go to TGI Friday's and then onto Jacob's for karaoke. Thats going to be my birthday. Then I will be on a plane to Phoenix....

Time for bed. I will write back when I am home and tell you all about my time spent in AZ. Love of love!

18 Days til the official start of SPRING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAAAYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heh, my birthday is the same day Spring starts, HEHEHE!!!! I'm going to be 21!!!!!!!!

The weather sucks! Its like 25 degrees out and its super windy, so it feels like -5!! It could be worse, I know Boston has had over 12 inches of snow the past couple of days, so i'll shut up now.

I had a job interview today @ Bed, Bath and Beyond!!!!! It went really well, so I have another interview with the district manager tomorrow! YAY! Wish me luck!!!!! Mama needs a JIZZOB!!!!!

After i turn 21, I will be performing in more places, more frequently, so keep checking back!

Well gotta go, just wanted to put some new stuff up!

Day before the big day, only i am with no one so its just another day to me. Blah! i wish i did have someone but sometimes Im glad to be independent, the boomerang effect.

Past couple of weeks have been ok. One of my friends told me if I went to Circut City and applied for a job, I would get a job there. He is really good with the managers and stuff and would put a word in for me. And he told me which manager I should talk to. So I did. And he told me, he does have a huge massive pile of applications to go through so to give him time and he would get back to me. So yeah. If I get the job there, i will be very happy!

Over the course of the past month, 4 of my friends have given birth to kids. I think its very interesting how they all came up pregnant around the same time and had their babies around the same time, so I guess it wont be hard to know when everyone's birthday is. Then again, I could be wrong....

My birthday is in 5 weeks! Yay! I will be 21! HAHAHA! But I wont be drinking because the taste and smell of alcohol just makes me want to vomit..... so no big 21th birthday celebration. My mother wants to take me to a casino my dad works at to play the slots, and i wont do it because I can spend that money instead of loose it to a slot machine. She thinks Im nuts! i would love to get a digital camera for my birthday, she has the idea thats its a waste of money. So i told her, just give me money for my birthday and i'll be happy.

I missed Kira's this month and last month because I lacked a ride to and from there, but I am so going next month, if i have to drag my mother to the car and chouffier( did i spell that right?) me around! LOL, kind of a birthday present to me!

More shows Im in are coming up, and I'm trying to get money saved for a new costume, or hell, i'll make one myself. I made one already, I just havent worn it yet, havent been anywhere in the past couple of weeks.

I got my taxes figured out and I am not happy, lol, I get back a total of $21!!!!!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!! Enough said!

Winter Blues

Hee!!! Past couple of weeks have been ok. Been on the job hunt, and not going well at all. Economy in Cincinnati is going downhill at a farely fast rate. If anything, a lot of the places I went to apply to, said they just cut most of their employees hours quite drastically. So in the meantime, been working on a couple of projects around the house.
I've also done a few shows.I couple of Court shows, and a few private parties. Speaking of the Court, here is their site, www.cincycourt1.org. I promised that awhile ago. Last nights show was awesome! This particular show, everyone who has ever performed for the Court were invited to perform last night, so there was about 30 performers there! The place was packed and we raised over $2,500!!!!!! I did an arabic pop number by Hakim, lots of fun :)
And I am so happy Dondi got back in touch with me! Yay! We have had a few good chats, but I dont want to hound her lol. So i try to space myself out before I contact her again. See Dondi @ www.dondibellydancer.com.
Well, time for me to get moving, I have a lot to do today. i will write back soon!

Heh heh, Its been awhile, but the holidays are tiring and busy! First off, Christmas and new Years were great. Christmas mummy gave me a new winter coat, scarf and mittens, and other odds and ends, my dad also gave me a scarf and glone set, 2 movies and a cook ware set (when i eventually move out), and a couple of DVD's. new years i spent at a friends house, and we painted each other, then went to bed.
Next off, i have officially withdrawn from Antonelli's. Not going well for me, so i have an appt later this week to go check out Western Hills School of Beauty, i want to check out cosmotology and nails, maybe hair. Wish me luck!
And now that i am out of college (for the moment) i will have more time to work on my costumes, performances and work.
Kira's is this friday, bt i wont be there this month, i have promised Ashton that i would be there this Friday to perform in her show, so yeah, COME SEE ME!!!!
i think thats about it, but sorry i have taken so long to post here, i will try and post more often, just bare with me :)

One week left......

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!! This past week was pretty good. I got most of my shopping done, so I'm happy. I worked Saturday of course. Fun Fun Fun! Sunday night was a lot of fun. I performed @ Shooters in Downtown Cincy. Tiny place, and when we all performed, i think there was a total of 20 people in the building. But we made a total of $107 for "The Court", which is a non profit organization who raise money for charities and funding for research for finding a cure for AIDS, HIV and other diseases. As soon as I find a web site for them I will post it. But out of all of the performers (drag queens), i was the odd ball, the belly dancer. Hehehe. We then went to a bar called Jacob's afterwards for karaoke. Couldnt be any better than that. I ran into a friend of mine from grade school. She has an awesome voice! So when she asked me what she should sing, I said "All That Jazz" from the movie Chicago. She rocks that song!!!

Today I did some more shopping, but wasnt to find everything, so out again i will go in the morning. Tomorrow will be the last day, because Wednesday they are predicting a lot of snow. So yeah...

Tonight was phenominal.... Rachel Brice was @ Kira's selling her merchandise, leave it to me to never have any money( damn job cut y hours), and we had a lovely conversation. She is very personalble, and great with kids! One clinged to my shirt a bit, lol. Her performance was awesome, someday I will have as much body control as she does, practice makes perfect! And of course I forgot my camera, so I got no pictures, but did get her autograph. I would probably get into tribal, but I am just too lazy to put in all the hair pieces, to each her own. Rachel has awesome poise and grace. Glamorous!

This week was ok, last week of school until January. I dont think I'm going to make it, I am just not getting it. I think I got D's if not F's in 2 of my classes, i just dont get it! So, we'll see. Next Sunday I perform @ Shooters (country gay bar). LOL, its interesting, a belly dancer in a drag show @ a country gay bar! Its for charity, so how could I turn it down? I need the exposure too, so anything goes. I just have fun dancing, although I would love a new costume!

My week

This week, another week. Wednesday I spent time with a friend I hadnt seen a awhile. Thursday I went to another friends house to help him set up broadband only to find out we have to order ther kit, then install broadband internet on his pc! LOL how silly can we be?! Saturday the Belly Bus was in town selling merchandise. me and 2 others went, I had no money, so i wasnt able to buy anything :( but I also worked and last night I went to group and came back home, didnt go out clubbing. Normally I dont go anywhere Sunday night because my fav show, Desperate Housewives comes on, but a holiday special took its place instead. Today I didnt do anything but some chores around the house. I even popped onto a famous belly dancer's site and read her journal about the belly dance superstars tour. So i decided to email her. This is what I said....

Hello Dondi! My name is Jae, living in Cincinnati Ohio (ugh!) and I am a belly dancer. But, what makes it interesting is that i am a *~* who loves belly dance!! Although I have never seen you or any of the other girls on tour, I find all of you a huge inspiration in my discovery of belly dance! I have only been dancing a year, but i do have a history in gymnastics and vocal music. One day i would love to able to sing arabic pop (talk about voice training!!!!). Anyway, I am writing to you to let you know what inspiration I get from you! Ive never seen you in person or on tour and you inspire me, thats saying something! I just hoped maybe one day when your feeling upset or something, you can read this email and know you have touched someone, inspired someone. And all the other dancers who hope one day to reach the experience level you and the other girls have surpassed. I never really belonged, being who I am, have always been outcasted, ridiculed and suicidal. Belly dance is my self discovery, my saviour, you could say, lol! I love watching instructional videos from the various girls, including yourself, watching your techniques, styles, etc. I have found my own style, and hope to continue. I mostly do improvational, because everytime i try to choreograph something, I cant remember what i just did! lol. I feel I do better to just dance with the music, feel the rhythm, and see the people's reaction to your dance. Especially, since I was not born *~*, having broad shoulders, no *~*, and still feel comfortable with my body!! I still dance the hell out of myself! I recently did a 7 minute improv solo @ a belly dance studio and had an amazing reaction! A lot of the girls thought i had been studying for years, when in fact i havent. And i havent even taken any real classes!! Everything i know and learned have been from your instructional videos!
Wow i never thought i would have written this much! Thank you Dondi and the other girls for helping me in my self discovery! Its because of you, i have something to indulge myself in, and feel appreciated and that I am somebody!

Well time to hit the sack, have class in the morning last week of class!!! YAY!!! And Friday Rachel Brice will be in Dayton, so i will be there to watch her dance!!!!

Ha! I forgot to finish an assignment thats due tomorrow. I still have two weeks of class left. Womp. Oh well. I am trying to email Ashton Paris to see what the t is on my performance dates.... supposed to be performing 2 Fridays in December, and hopefully one of them isnt December 10th! LOL! I'm not missing Rachel in performance... i wonder if we're allowed to take pictures, or even tape her, I'd like to be able to send it to her, that would be stokie.

Ok, its hard to concentrate with all the noise going on downstairs, my brother's gf is chasing my dog around the house..... cute, lol. I dont want the Christmas season to end.... but at the same time I'm not looking foward to snow... weird, aren't I? What can I say? I am who I am. Egh, its hard to move with a cat in your lap. Well I should finish up my assignment now, then do my excersixes, etc, etc, etc....

Ahhh, my first day on the Blog. My other journal just didnt like me so here i am. The holidays are here! Yay! Dying to see Rachel Brice December 10th @ Kira's Oasis. Heee! I'm giddy about that. And i just found out that the Belly Dance Superstars Belly Bus will be here next week selling off the last of the merchandise... hehehe, hopefully i will have a few bucks! Time to go excersize some, do my stretches, cool down then GRUB!
